Ken Reinig, speaker and health club insurance expert, speaks to fair hiring and promotion practices and offers a recent example that club owners must take to heart in order to avoid making mistakes that could ruin their businesses.
Lakewood, Co: August 19, 2016– Ken Reinig, well-known risk management specialist, posted a new blog on his website entitled “Make Sure Your Club Has Fair Hiring and Promotion Practices in Place.” Fair employment practices include treating everyone equally and Mr. Reinig gives an example of what may be a common practice that could bring unwelcome lawsuits.
Reinig states that, “Sexual harassment lawsuits have grown to nearly epidemic proportions in health clubs around the country.” He continues advising, “But don’t lose sight of other areas where discrimination can wreak havoc for your business.”
According to Reinig, “Club owners must have policies in place that address all aspects of employment including compensation, employment terms and conditions, as well as privileges.” He writes, “And thinking that a man with a family deserves to be paid more than a younger single woman is discrimination. Let the example of a 2015 lawsuit against Planet Fitness serve as an example to owners who think this way.”
